Mission Statement

The mission of the Joint Hurricane Testbed is to transfer more rapidly and smoothly new technology, research results, and observational advances of the United States Weather Research Program (USWRP), its sponsoring agencies, the academic community and other groups into improved tropical cyclone analysis and prediction at operational centers.

News

24 August 2021: NOAA’s Weather Program Office has published its fiscal year 2022 Notice of Funding Opportunity for “Weather Testbeds” which includes the JHT. NOAA-OAR-WPO-2022-2006969 on grants.gov. LOI Deadline - September 14, 2021. Proposal Deadline - November 17, 2021.

1 August 2019: New JHT projects (Round 10 FY19-22) announced.

25 October 2018: The Office of Weather & Air Quality has published its fiscal year 2019 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)
(NOAA-OAR-OWAQ-2019-2005820) on Grants.Gov. JHT LOIs are due 11/9.


1 November 2017: New JHT projects (Round 9 FY17-19) announced.
