TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 500 AM PDT TUE AUG 12 2014 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: 1. A broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave is located a few hundred miles south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico. Shower activity has not become any better organized since yesterday, but environmental conditions remain conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form within the next day or two while the system moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent. 2. A broad area of disturbed weather is centered about 1500 miles east- southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Development of this system, if any, should be slow to occur while it moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...30 percent.
