A broad area of low pressure located about 1600 miles east-southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii is producing a few showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible while it moves toward the west or west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph, and into the Central Pacific Basin later this week. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...30 percent.
