For the central North Pacific...between 140W and 180W:

1. An area of low pressure is located around 300 miles southwest of
Lihue, Kauai. Recent satellite-derived wind data indicates a
tropical cyclone is forming, and advisories will be initiated
on this system later this morning. The area of low pressure is
forecast to move northwest over the next few days, remaining well
away from the main Hawaiian Islands.
