A tropical wave is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms located about 1300 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next few days while it moves west-northwestward. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent 2. An area of low pressure located about 1600 miles southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii has become a little better defined today. Development of this system is possible during the next day or two while the low remains stationary.
