DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Frank was
located near latitude 19.9 North, longitude 111.8 West.  Frank is
moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h).  A generally west-
northwestward motion is expected for the next day or so, followed
by a turn toward the west.  On this track, the center of Frank will
continue to move away from Socorro Island.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Little change in strength is expected during the next 48
hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 996 mb (29.42 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF:  Swells associated with Frank are affecting the coasts of the
southern Baja California peninsula and the state of Sinaloa.  These
swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip currents.  Please
consult products from your local weather office.
