SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for...
* Altata to San Blas
* Las Islas Marias

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case within the
next 12 to 24 hours. However, if this rapid weakening trend
continues, the tropical storm warning will be discontinued early
Saturday.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 1100 PM MST (0600 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Sandra was
located near latitude 21.2 North, longitude 109.0 West. Sandra has
been moving little during the past few hours, but it should resume a
slow northward track on Saturday. On the forecast track, the center
of Sandra is expected to pass west of the Las Islas Marias during
the next several hours and approach the coast in the warning area
late Saturday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 50 mph (85 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional rapid weakening is forecast, and
Sandra could become a tropical depression before landfall, and
dissipate thereafter.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km)
mainly to the east of the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb (29.38 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
RAINFALL:  Sandra is expected to produce total rainfall
accumulations of 4 to 6 inches with isolated maximum amounts of
10 inches possible across the Mexican states of Nayarit, southern
and central Sinaloa, northwest Jalisco, western Zacateca and
southern Durango. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flash
flood and mudslides.

WIND:  Tropical storm conditions are expected to affect the Las
Islas Marias for the next few hours and reach the coast of mainland
Mexico within the warning area on Saturday.
