DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karina was
located near latitude 22.7 North, longitude 145.0 West. Karina is
moving toward the northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the 
west-northwest is expected today, along with an increase in forward 
speed.
 
Maximum sustained winds remain near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher 
gusts. Weakening is expected, and Karina is forecast to become a
post-tropical gale by late tonight.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).
