How to Install the APK File
- Download this APK file to a computer (556 MB).
How to Enable Developer Mode
- Go to Meta Horizon Dashboard on a computer. Sign in using the same account linked to the Quest headset. Create an Organization Name (should be at the top-right corner of the screen).
- Download the Meta Horizon app on a phone or iPad. Make sure the Quest headset is connected to the phone or iPad via Bluetooth and on the same Wifi.
- To turn on Developer Mode, go to the Menu in the Meta Horizon app on the phone or iPad. The Quest headset is found under “Devices”. Add the device. Then, select “Headset settings” and turn on “Developer Mode”.
- Reboot the Quest headset.
- Turn on the Quest headset and verify Developer mode is activated by going to Quick Settings → Settings → Advanced in the headset. If Developer Mode is not activated, toggle it on.
How to put the App onto the Quest Headset using Sidequest
- Download and install SideQuest Desktop App on a computer and create an account on SideQuest.
- Connect the Quest headset to the computer via USB-C. After connecting the headset to the computer, a popup will appear in the Quest Headset to confirm connecting to the computer. Click “Allow”. Then, on Sidequest, there will be a green light at the top-left corner showing the headset is connected.
- Use SideQuest to install the APK on the Quest headset. To do this, in the top-right corner, click on the icon to “install apk file from folder on computer”. Find the downloaded APK file on the computer to upload it. During the upload, click the “Task Manager” button (top-right corner of the screen) to follow the progress of the upload. Once uploaded, the file is now on the Quest headset.
- On the Quest Headset, go to Library → Applications, then on the dropdown in the top-right corner, change to “Unknown Sources.” Unknown Sources may also appear directly on the left pane when clicking on Library. The app should be in Unknown Sources. Click on it to begin.
Additional User Notes
- For Step 2 under “How to Enable Developer Mode”, Wifi on VPN may cause issues when pairing the Quest headset to the phone.
- Wifi is only needed when installing the app to the Quest Headset. No Wifi is required when running the app.
