DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Aletta was located
near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 113.9 West. Aletta is moving
toward the west near 6 mph (9 km/h). A west-northwestward motion
is expected tonight and Sunday, followed by a westward motion from
Sunday night through Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased rapidly to near 75 mph (120
km/h) with higher gusts. Additional rapid weakening is expected,
with Aletta forecast to weaken to a tropical storm during the next
several hours, weaken to a depression by Sunday night, and
degenerate to a remnant low pressure area by Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles
(150 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 984 mb (29.06 inches).

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Aletta will affect portions of the coast
of west-central mainland Mexico and the west coast of Baja
California Sur through the weekend. Swells are expected to build
even higher along these areas early next week due to another weather
system to the east of Aletta. These swells are likely to cause
life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult
products from your local weather office.
