DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Otis was
located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 127.4 West.  Otis is
moving toward the northwest near 2 mph (4 km/h).  A turn toward the
north is expected later today, but Otis is forecast to move very
little for the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Some additional strengthening is possible today.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches).
