Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0130 UTC.

...TROPICAL WAVES...

The axis of a tropical wave is near 80W, north of 03N, moving 
westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

The axis of a tropical wave is near 98W, north of 02N, moving 
westward at 10 to 15 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

The axis of a tropical wave is near 120W, moving westward at 
around 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the ITCZ/Monsoon 
Trough section below.

The axis of a tropical wave is near 132/133W, from 02N to 19N, 
moving westward at 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the 
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...

The monsoon trough extends from 10N85W to 06N97W to 13N130W to 
09N133W. The ITCZ extends from 09N133W to 09N140W. Numerous 
moderate to isolated strong convection is noted from 02N to 10N 
east of 100W. Scattered moderate convection is active from 04N 
to 15N between 104W and 131W.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

Moderate to fresh winds prevail over the Gulf of California, with
slight seas. Moderate or weaker winds, and moderate seas, prevail
over the open waters off Mexico. 

For the forecast, the pressure gradient between high pressure NW
of the area and low pressure over the Colorado River valley will
support moderate to fresh winds over the northern Gulf of 
California through Wed. Elsewhere, a moderate pressure gradient 
will support mostly gentle to moderate winds across the offshore 
waters of Mexico. Fresh to strong gap winds and building seas are
expected across the Gulf of Tehuantepec toward the end of the 
week. 

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, 
AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...

Moderate to locally fresh winds and moderate seas prevail over 
and downstream the Gulf of Papagayo. Gentle to moderate winds are
found between the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. Light to gentle
winds and moderate seas are noted elsewhere. 

For the forecast, moderate to fresh winds will pulse across the
Papagayo region, with strong winds and occasional rough seas at 
night the second half of the week. Moderate or weaker winds and 
moderate seas in SW swell are expected across the remainder of 
the waters through the period. 

...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...

Northerly swell is bringing rough seas to the waters N of 29N 
between 125W and 130W. Elsewhere over the discussion waters, 
gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas prevail. 

For the forecast, the rough seas in northerly swell will subside
this evening. Southerly swell will build northward to 03N and 
west of 105W starting tonight and Wed. Seas may build to 8 ft in
the tradewind zone in the western waters late this week.
