Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
2100 UTC.

...TROPICAL WAVES...

The axis of a tropical wave is near 93W, north of 03N, moving
westward at 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

The axis of a tropical wave is near 110W, north of 02N, moving
westward at 10 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

The axis of a tropical wave is near 130W, north of 02N, moving
westward at around 5 kt. Nearby convection is discussed in the
ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section below.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...

The monsoon trough extends from 09N78W to 10N92W. Segments of
the ITCZ extend from 09N95W to 10N108W, from 10N113W to 11N128W
and from 10N132W to 11N140W. Scattered moderate convection is
noted from 10N to 15N between 95W and 110W, and from 10N to 15N
between 125W and 140W.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

Fresh to strong winds and moderate to locally rough seas are
over the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Moderate or weaker winds, and
moderate seas, prevail over the remainder of the open waters off
Mexico. Gentle winds and slight seas are over the Gulf of
California.

For the forecast, fresh to strong gap winds and rough seas are
expected across the Gulf of Tehuantepec into the weekend.
Elsewhere, a moderate pressure gradient will support mostly
gentle to moderate winds across the offshore waters of Mexico.
The pressure gradient between high pressure NW of the area and
lower pressure over the Colorado River Valley will support fresh
southerly winds across the northern Gulf of California late this
weekend into early next week.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA,
AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...

A recent scatterometer satellite pass confirmed fresh to strong
winds across and downstream of the Gulf of Papagayo. Rough seas
likely accompany the plume of gap winds. Light to gentle winds
and moderate seas are noted elsewhere.

For the forecast, fresh to strong gap winds and occasional rough
seas will pulse across the Gulf of Papagayo into early next
week. Moderate or weaker winds and moderate seas in SW swell are
expected across the remainder of the waters through the period,
except for large SE to S swell near the Galapagos early next
week.

...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...

High pressure prevails over the waters N of 20N. The pressure
gradient between this area of high pressure and a tropical wave
just west of 140W is supporting moderate to fresh winds from 15N
to 20N and W of 135W. Seas over these waters are near 8 ft.
Rough seas to 8 ft are found over the waters S of 05N between
100W and 120W. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate winds and moderate
seas prevail.

For the forecast, seas to 8 ft in the western tradewind waters
will subside by Sat. Farther south, southerly swell to 8 ft will
impact the waters south of 05N and west of 100W through the
weekend.
