DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 800 PM MST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Marie was 
located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 110.3 West. Marie is 
moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the 
west-northwest is expected on Wednesday and that motion should 
continue through Thursday.
 
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) 
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected during the 
next few days, and Marie is expected to become a hurricane on 
Wednesday.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Marie will affect portions of the coast
of southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next
few days and will likely spread northward to southern California
over the weekend.  These swells are likely to cause
life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult
