DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hernan was located near latitude 15.4 North, longitude 132.1 West. Hernan is moving toward the south near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the southwest then west-southwest is expected today, with a turn toward the west expected on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Hernan is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression today and a post-tropical cyclone early Saturday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
