DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 800 AM MST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Marie was
located near latitude 15.0 North, longitude 108.7 West. Marie is
moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and a turn toward 
the west-northwest is expected on Thursday.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Gradual strengthening is forecast, and Marie is expected to become
a hurricane by Wednesday night.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles (335 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF: Swells generated by Marie will affect portions of the coast
of southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next
few days and will likely spread northward to southern California 
over the weekend.  These swells are likely to cause 
life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult
