DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 200 AM MST (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Marie was located
near latitude 18.9 North, longitude 113.9 West. Marie is moving
toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this motion 
should continue for the next few days.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, 
and gradual weakening is anticipated to begin by this weekend.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles
(335 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 981 mb (28.97 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Marie will affect portions of the coast of
southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next few
days and will likely spread northward to southern California over
the weekend.  These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf
and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local
