DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Genevieve was 
located near latitude 20.6 North, longitude 123.5 West. Genevieve is 
moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h). This general 
motion is expected to continue during the next several days.
 
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 80 mph (130 km/h) 
with higher gusts.  Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 
few days, and Genevieve is expected to weaken to a tropical storm 
later today and become a remnant low late this weekend.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles
(205 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 980 mb (28.94 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Genevieve are affecting portions of the
Baja California Peninsula and Southern California. These swells will
persist for the next several days, and are likely to cause
life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult
products from your local weather office.
