DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Amanda was located near latitude 13.4 North, longitude 132.7 West. Amanda is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A turn toward the west is expected later today, followed by a southwestward motion by Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast today, but gradual weakening is likely to begin by tonight and continue through the weekend. Amanda is forecast to degenerate into a remnant low by Sunday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center.
