000 WTPZ43 KNHC 081745 TCDEP3 Tropical Storm Cristina Special Discussion Number 2 NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL EP032026 1200 PM CST Mon Jun 08 2026 Recent scatterometer data has revealed reliable surface winds up to tropical-storm-strength. Therefore, a special advisory has been issued upgrading Tropical Depression Three-E to Tropical Storm Cristina with an initial intensity of 40 kt. The tropical storm radii forecast has been adjusted accordingly as well. Cristina continues to move along the eastern side of the model guidance. Should the tropical storm maintain a northward trajectory for longer than expected, it could bring tropical-storm-force winds to the Central American coast sooner than previously anticipated. This special advisory is being released in lieu of the 1800 UTC intermediate advisory. Key Messages: 1. Heavy rainfall associated with Tropical Depression Three-E will impact coastal portions of Central America through Thursday. This rainfall may produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain. 2. Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the coast of Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Honduras as early as this evening.
