DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lala was
located near latitude 36.4 North, longitude 178.5 West. Lala is
moving toward the northwest near 5 mph (7 km/h). A
north-northwestward motion is expected through Thursday, followed by
a gradual bend toward the west-northwest on Thursday night and
Friday. On the forecast track, Lala is expected to cross the
International Date Line in about 30 to 36 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Gradual weakening is expected during the next couple of days, and
Lala is forecast to become a post-tropical remnant low Thursday
night.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km)
from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).
