DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Hurricane Linda was located
near latitude 18.2 North, longitude 131.8 West.  Linda is moving
toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h).  A turn toward the
west-northwest is expected later today, and this general motion
should continue through the weekend.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher
gusts.  A slow weakening trend is forecast to begin by tonight,
followed by more steady weakening Thursday through Friday.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles
(150 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 975 mb (28.80 inches).
