DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 900 AM MDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Aletta was
located near latitude 14.9 North, longitude 109.3 West.  Aletta is
moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h) and this
general motion is expected to continue through the weekend.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is likely over the
next 24 to 48 hours, and Aletta is expected to become a hurricane
later today.  Steady weakening is forecast to begin on Sunday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 991 mb (29.27 inches).
