DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fernanda was
located near latitude 11.9 North, longitude 113.1 West. Fernanda is
moving toward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h). A westward to west-
southwestward motion is expected during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h)
with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is expected and
Fernanda is forecast to become a hurricane on Friday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
