DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Orlene was located
near latitude 19.8 North, longitude 122.9 West.  Orlene is moving
toward the west near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this general motion with
some increase in forward speed is expected over the next couple of
days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Gradual weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles
(110 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 990 mb (29.24 inches).
