DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Orlene was
located near latitude 15.4 North, longitude 116.8 West.  Orlene is
moving toward the northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this heading
with a decrease in forward speed is expected through Monday.  A
turn toward the north-northwest with an additional reduction in
speed is forecast Monday night.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 mph (75 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is forecast during
the next 48 hours, and Orlene is forecast to become a hurricane on
Monday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
