DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Lester was located
near latitude 17.9 North, longitude 119.6 West. Lester is moving
toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this motion with some
additional increase in forward speed is expected during the next
couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 mph (165 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Some additional strengthening is possible
during the next 24 hours, followed by slow weakening after that
time.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles
(150 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 973 mb (28.74 inches).
