DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Blas was located
near latitude 14.0 North, longitude 116.8 West. Blas is moving
toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h) and this general
motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h)
with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and
Blas is expected to become a major hurricane on Tuesday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles
(240 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 984 mb (29.06 inches).
