DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Kenneth was
located near latitude 20.0 North, longitude 132.5 West. Kenneth is
moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and a turn
toward the north-northwest is expected later today.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 90 mph (150 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Additional rapid weakening is forecast during
the next 48 hours, and Kenneth is expected to weaken to a tropical
storm later today.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles
(165 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 978 mb (28.88 inches).
