DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Eight-E
was located near latitude 16.4 North, longitude 129.1 West.  The
depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20
km/h).  A turn toward the west is expected later today.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48
hours, but the depression could still become a tropical storm later
today or on Wednesday.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb (29.74 inches).
