DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

AT 800 PM PDT...0300 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION NORMAN
WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 25.2 NORTH...LONGITUDE 109.0 WEST.  NORMAN
IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 10 MPH...17 KM/H.  A
DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AND ON SATURDAY. 
ON THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF NORMAN WILL MOVE NEAR OR
ALONG THE COAST OF NORTHERN SINALOA DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 35 MPH...55 KM/H...
WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  ADDITIONAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST...AND NORMAN
COULD DEGENERATE INTO A REMNANT LOW BY SATURDAY MORNING.  THE
REMNANT LOW IS THEN EXPECTED TO DISSIPATE SATURDAY NIGHT.
 
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1003 MB...29.62 INCHES.
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
RAINFALL...NORMAN IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL
ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ACROSS THE MEXICAN STATES OF SINALOA
AND FAR WESTERN DURANGO THROUGH SATURDAY.  ISOLATED STORM TOTAL
AMOUNTS OF 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN ASSOCIATION WITH NORMAN.
THESE RAINFALL AMOUNTS MAY PRODUCE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS
AND MUDSLIDES.
 
WIND...GUSTS TO TROPICAL STORM FORCE ARE POSSIBLE IN SQUALLS ALONG
THE COAST OF SINALOA OVERNIGHT.
