...ALMA WEAKENS TO A DEPRESSION OVER HONDURAS...RAINFALL THREAT
CONTINUES...
 
AT 2 AM PDT...0900 UTC...THE GOVERNMENTS OF HONDURAS AND EL
SALVADOR HAVE DISCONTINUED THE TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR THEIR
COUNTRIES.  A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE
PACIFIC COAST OF NICARAGUA.  THIS WARNING WILL LIKELY BE
DISCONTINUED LATER THIS MORNING.
 
FOR STORM INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...INCLUDING POSSIBLE
INLAND WATCHES AND WARNINGS...PLEASE MONITOR PRODUCTS ISSUED
BY YOUR LOCAL WEATHER OFFICE.
 
AT 200 AM PDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION ALMA WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 14.6 NORTH...LONGITUDE 87.6 WEST OR INLAND
OVER HONDURAS ABOUT 45 MILES...75 KM...NORTHWEST OF TEGUCIGALPA.
 
THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 12 MPH...
19 KM/HR.  A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED DURING
THE NEXT 24 HOURS.  ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER OF ALMA OR ITS
REMNANT CIRCULATION WILL BE MOVING OVER WESTERN HONDURAS TODAY AND
COULD REACH GUATEMALA OR BELIZE LATE TODAY OR EARLY SATURDAY.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO NEAR 30 MPH...45 KM/HR...
WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  CONTINUED WEAKENING IS FORECAST...AND THE
TROPICAL CYCLONE IS EXPECTED TO DISSIPATE BY SATURDAY OVER NORTHERN
CENTRAL AMERICA.
 
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1005 MB...29.68 INCHES.
 
ALMA IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 15
INCHES OVER PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AMERICA FROM COSTA RICA
NORTHWESTWARD THROUGH PORTIONS OF NICARAGUA...HONDURAS...EL
SALVADOR...GUATEMALA AND BELIZE.  ISOLATED MAXIMUM STORM TOTAL
AMOUNTS OF 20 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN AREAS OF HIGHER TERRAIN.
THESE RAINS COULD PRODUCE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND MUD
SLIDES.
 
REPEATING THE 200 AM PDT POSITION...14.6 N...87.6 W.  MOVEMENT
TOWARD...NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 12 MPH.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...30
MPH.  MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1005 MB.
 
AN INTERMEDIATE ADVISORY WILL BE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE
CENTER AT 500 AM PDT FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT COMPLETE ADVISORY AT 800
