...MARTY WEAKENING AS IT MOVES UP THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA...

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE EAST COAST OF THE
BAJA PENINSULA FROM BAHIA SAN JUAN BAUTISTA NORTHWARD TO THE MOUTH
OF THE COLORADO RIVER... AND FOR MAINLAND MEXICO FROM BAHIA KINO
NORTHWARD TO THE MOUTH OF THE COLORADO RIVER.
 
AT 2 AM PDT...0900Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM MARTY WAS LOCATED
NEAR LATITUDE 28.8 NORTH... LONGITUDE 112.8 WEST OR ABOUT 35
MILES...55 KM...EAST OF BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES.
 
MARTY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH ...22 KM/HR.
A DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON
THE FORECAST TRACK...THE CENTER OF MARTY IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
MOVING UP THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA DURING THE DAY TODAY. HOWEVER...
MOST OF THE HEAVIEST RAINS WITH MARTY ARE LOCATED OVER MAINLAND
MEXICO WELL TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF THE CENTER.
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR  50 MPH... 85 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.  ADDITIONAL WEAKENING IS EXPECTED LATER TODAY.
 
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO  85 MILES
...140 KM FROM THE CENTER.
 
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS  995 MB...29.38 INCHES.
 
STORM SURGE FLOODING OF 2 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS IS
STILL POSSIBLE IN THE WARNING AREAS.  
 
RAINFALL TOTALS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...
ARE LIKELY IN ASSOCIATION WITH MARTY...PARTICULARLY OVER MAINLAND
MEXICO. THESE RAINS COULD CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND
MUD SLIDES.  
 
SOME OF THE RAINFALL ASSOCIATED WITH MARTY IS SPREADING
NORTHEASTWARD INTO PORTIONS OF ARIZONA...NEW MEXICO...AND EXTREME
WESTERN TEXAS.
 
REPEATING THE 2 AM PDT POSITION...28.8 N...112.8 W.  MOVEMENT
TOWARD...NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 14 MPH.  MAXIMUM SUSTAINED
WINDS... 50 MPH.  MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE... 995 MB.
