...TROPICAL DEPRESSION BECOMES FABIAN...THE SIXTH TROPICAL STORM OF
THE SEASON...

SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATE THAT TROPICAL DEPRESSION TEN HAS
INTENSIFIED AND IS NOW A TROPICAL STORM.
 
AT 5 PM AST...2100Z...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FABIAN WAS
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 15.2 NORTH... LONGITUDE 39.2 WEST OR ABOUT
1000 MILES...1600 KM...WEST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.

FABIAN IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 22 MPH ...35 KM/HR...AND THIS
GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS WITH A
GRADUAL DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR  45 MPH... 75 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.  GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
 
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO  70 MILES
...110 KM TO THE NORTH OF THE CENTER.
 
ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1004 MB...29.65 INCHES.
