DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 900 AM MDT (1500 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Eugene was located
near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 114.6 West. Eugene is moving
toward the north-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h).  The hurricane
should continue moving in this direction and speed during the next
two days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 115 mph (185 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Eugene is a category 3 hurricane on the
Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  Some weakening should begin
on Monday.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles
(205 km).

The estimated minimum central pressure is 965 mb (28.50 inches).
