Fay remains mainly comprised of a swirl of low- to mid-level clouds, 
although a few isolated patches of convection are occuring in the 
eastern semicircle. There has been no organized convection for more 
than 18 h, and based on this it appears than Fay has degenerated to 
a remnant low pressure area. There is a possibility of convective 
bursts occuring during the next few days. However, the cyclone will 
be embedded in a dry air mass with strong upper-level convergence, 
and these factors should keep organized convection from 
re-developing.
 
The system is moving west-southwestward, or 240/8 kt, as it rounds 
the eastern periphery of a low- to mid-level ridge to its west and 
northwest. A turn toward the west is expected over the next day or 
two as the ridge strengthens and builds eastward to the north of 
Fay. A turn toward the west-northwest could occur before the remnant 
low dissipates between 96-120 h.
