DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 1100 PM HST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lowell was
located near latitude 27.3 North, longitude 161.5 West. Lowell is
moving toward the north near 14 mph (22 km/h). A slow turn toward
the northwest then west is forecast Wednesday into Thursday. Then, a
slower forward speed is expected later on Thursday and Friday.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 65 mph (100 km/h)
with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next
few days.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 255 miles (405 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 981 mb (28.97 inches).

SURF: Swells from Lowell will continue to generate life-threatening
surf and rip current conditions during the next day or so along
exposed coasts of the Hawaiian Islands. Please consult products from
