SUMMARY OF 800 PM PDT...0300 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...14.1N 137.4W ABOUT 1230 MI...1980 KM ESE OF HILO HAWAII MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...60 MPH...95 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 270 DEGREES AT 13 MPH...20 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1000 MB...29.53 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Miriam was located near latitude 14.1 North, longitude 137.4 West. Miriam is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through Wednesday. A turn toward the northwest and north-northwest is expected Thursday and Thursday night, followed by a turn toward the north on Friday. Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected during the next day or so. Some gradual strengthening is possible Wednesday night and Thursday, before weakening begins on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
