DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Irwin was
located near latitude 14.8 North, longitude 124.7 West.  Irwin has
been meandering for much of the day but now appears to drifting
toward the north.  Irwin is forecast to move faster toward the north
on Saturday and then turn north-northwestward on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts.
Fluctuations in intensity are possible through Saturday, but Irwin
should begin to weaken by Sunday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
