DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ulika was
located near latitude 12.7 North, longitude 139.6 West. Ulika is
moving toward the northeast near 5 mph (7 km/h).  A turn toward the
north-northeast is expected later tonight, and a turn toward the
north is forecast Wednesday or Wednesday night.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph (95 km/h)
with higher gusts.  Some additional strengthening is forecast
through Wednesday.  Ulika is expected to begin weakening Wednesday
night or Thursday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
