DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1000 AM PDT (1700 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression
Eighteen-E was located near latitude 15.6 North, longitude 119.7
West. The depression is moving toward the north near 6 mph (9
km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through tonight.
A turn toward the north-northeast with some increase in forward
speed is expected on Monday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some slight strengthening is forecast during the next day or
so, and the depression is forecast to become a tropical storm later
today or tonight.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
