DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paine was located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 110.7 West. Paine is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). A west- northwestward to northwestward motion is expected to continue through late Monday. A turn toward the north-northwest with some decrease in forward speed is likely by Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during today and Monday, followed by weakening on Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
