SUMMARY OF 300 AM MDT...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...20.1N 113.2W ABOUT 285 MI...460 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...65 MPH...100 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 280 DEGREES AT 3 MPH...6 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...994 MB...29.36 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Frank was located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 113.2 West. Frank is moving toward the west near 3 mph (6 km/h), and a west-northwestward motion at a faster forward speed is expected over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next day or so. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells associated with Frank are affecting the coasts of the southern Baja California peninsula and the state of Sinaloa.
