DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK
------------------------------
At 300 PM MDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Frank was
located near latitude 17.9 North, longitude 108.2 West. Frank is
moving toward the northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h).  The tropical
cyclone should turn toward the west-northwest at a slightly slower
forward speed during the next two days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Frank
is forecast to become a hurricane by Sunday.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).


HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells associated with Frank will affect the coasts of
southern Baja California and the state of Sinaloa beginning on
Saturday.  These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip
currents.  Please consult products from your local weather office.
