DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Darby was located near latitude 15.9 North, longitude 118.1 West. Darby is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A westward or west- northwestward motion at a slightly slower forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is expected through Friday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 985 mb (29.09 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
