DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 800 AM MST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Sandra was located near latitude 11.2 North, longitude 106.1 West. Sandra is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is expected today, followed by a turn toward the northwest and north-northwest with a decrease in forward speed by Wednesday and Wednesday night. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Sandra is expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
