DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Nine was located near latitude 16.5 North, longitude 44.8 West. The depression is moving toward the north near 7 mph (11 km/h). A turn toward the north-northwest is forecast tonight, followed by a turn to the northwest on Friday, and a turn toward the west-northwest on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours, however, the depression is forecast to become a remnant low by Friday night. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
