364 WTUS81 KRNK 291935 HLSRNK NCZ001>006-018>020-VAZ015>017-032>034-043>045-058-059-300345- Post-Tropical Cyclone Zeta Local Statement Intermediate Advisory Number 20A National Weather Service Blacksburg VA AL282020 335 PM EDT Thu Oct 29 2020 This product covers Virginia and Northwest North Carolina **ALL TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - All watches and warnings have been canceled * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * STORM INFORMATION: - About 60 miles east-northeast of Lynchburg VA or about 110 miles northeast of Danville VA - 37.8N 78.2W - Storm Intensity 50 mph - Movement East-northeast or 60 degrees at 53 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ Post-tropical Storm Zeta is currently located over Central Virginia. The rapid northeast movement is expected to persist as it continues to travel northeast through the Mid-Atlantic this afternoon. All tropical storm warnings have been cancelled. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * WIND: Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across Virginia and Northwest North Carolina. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS ---------------------------------- * EVACUATIONS Follow the advice of local officials. * OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION: When clearing out fallen trees, be careful with chainsaws and axes. Always wear protective gear and keep others at a safe distance. Leaning trees and those which have fallen on roofs or power lines can be especially dangerous. If you are not in good health or unsure about what you are doing, have someone with tree cutting experience do the job. Never cut trees without a partner. If using a generator, avoid carbon monoxide poisoning by following instructions provided by the manufacturer. Operate your generator in a well-ventilated space outside of your living area and away from open doors and windows. Be alert for flooded roads which could be compromised or littered with debris. Avoid travel until water levels subside and roads have been cleared. Do not drive through places where flood waters cover the road.
