SUMMARY OF 430 AM PDT...1130 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...18.0N 115.0W ABOUT 470 MI...760 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...60 MPH...95 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 295 DEGREES AT 13 MPH...20 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1000 MB...29.53 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 430 AM PDT (1130 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Bud was located near latitude 18.0 North, longitude 115.0 West. Bud is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A turn toward the west is expected later today, followed by a slower southwestward motion on Friday and Friday night. Recent surface observations indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Bud is expected to begin weakening later today or tonight, and the system is forecast to dissipate by the weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. A Mexican Navy automated station on Isla Clarion recently reported a sustained wind of 57 mph (92 km/h) and a gust of 78 mph (126 km/h). The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
