There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
 
 
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Linda was located
near latitude 19.1 North, longitude 117.0 West.  Linda is moving
toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h).  A turn toward
the west is anticipated tonight, followed by a turn toward the
west-southwest early next week.
 
Maximum sustained winds remain near 130 mph (215 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Linda is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale.  Some fluctuations in intensity are possible 
through this evening. However, a steady weakening trend is forecast 
to commence by early Sunday.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles
(185 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 950 mb (28.06 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF:  Swells generated by Linda are expected to affect portions of
the coast of southwestern Mexico and the southern and western coast
of Baja California Sur over the next few days.  These swells are
likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
